Nous Portal for US$5: Use the Credits, Watch the Renewal
Count the getquids discount, model tokens, tools and cloud separately before your Hong Kong payment for a Hermes trial.
Last updated 14 October 2026

Best for
Hong Kong users with work for Hermes or several models, who will check usage and remember the renewal date.
Have a task ready before subscribing. Plus's first US$5 buys US$22 usage, not cash or unlimited models. Tools and cloud share the balance; only up to US$10 rolls over. Check the US$15 discount and unused referral card, then cancel before the next US$20 invoice if one month is enough. Bigger plans still have the same 10% uplift.
Pros
- The visible invite shows a US$5 Plus month with US$22 usage
- Models, tools and optional cloud spending share one account
- All paid tiers give 10% more credit than their stated fee
- Listed input/output prices let you estimate a task
- Free lets you explore free models without fees or monthly credit
- Privacy Mode controls Nous's payload storage/training, with exceptions
Watch-outs
- After the trial invoice, Plus costs US$20 monthly
- A card previously used for referral can lose the discount
- Credit is finite, with US$10/50/100 rollover caps
- Running tools or servers still uses the balance
- Terms say non-refundable, before tax, with HKD exchange costs to check
- Third-party privacy rules and operational metadata remain

Full claim instructions are on the Nous Portal offer page.
1. Portal supplies services; Hermes does the work
Portal is the model/tool/cloud account and balance. Hermes is the agent that uses it. The catalogue includes other companies' models and some OpenRouter-powered access, rather than only Nous models.
Nous Research, Inc. is the US operator and prices are dollars. Hong Kong users need the service and upstream rules; one login does not bundle every cost. Centralised usage is convenient, but value depends on the work.
2. US$15 off and US$22 credit are different
The getquids invite cuts US$15 from a new personal subscription's first bill: Plus US$20 becomes US$5, with US$22 usage and US$10 rollover, then US$20/month. Follow Claim your invite and inspect the bill before paying; it is not US$15 cash plus US$22 cash.
New customers only, one referral per card. Previous referral use can reverse the discount and prevent rewards; no self/controlled-account referrals. Disclosure: getquids is our invite identifier and we may benefit; no public fixed referrer amount was verified.
3. A larger plan has no larger multiplier
Free costs zero with free models, standard limits and no monthly credit. Plus costs US$20 for US$22, rollover US$10; Super US$100 for US$110, rollover US$50; Ultra US$200 for US$220, rollover US$100. Check your model's actual limits.
All allocate 10% extra. Fully used, US$20 for US$22 is about 9.09% off face-value usage, not 10% cash back. Super costs US$80 more monthly; buy it for actual usage, not a supposedly better exchange rate.
4. Count tokens, not chat messages
The checked Aion 3.5 rate was US$3 input and US$6 output per million tokens. Half a million input plus 100,000 output costs US$1.50 + US$0.60 = US$2.10; ten batches cost US$21, leaving US$1 before tools/cloud. Other models differ.
An agent may repeatedly send context, read files and generate results. Check metered input/output, test small, then run long tasks. A temporarily free model can change price.
5. Tools and cloud spend your allowance too
Search, scraping, images, browser and speech charge by use to the same balance. Hermes Cloud servers do too. Hosted tool usage is access, not unlimited free clicks.
A provisioned server may cost money without a chat. Read size, price and stopping/deletion rules; closing chat is not stopping a server. Local Hermes is a simpler first way to inspect model costs.
6. Unused does not mean permanently saved
With Plus's US$10 cap, US$18 left cannot all be assumed retained. Super and Ultra raise caps to US$50/100 while fees become US$100/200.
Check billing for expiry, top-ups versus monthly credit and downgrade/cancellation retention. Using just US$6 usually makes US$20 a poor purchase despite the displayed US$22; count what you use.
7. Privacy Mode still leaves upstream checks
The 28 September policy covers prompts, uploads, outputs, conversations, tools and usage. Account Settings → Privacy Settings controls Nous payload storage, training, improvement and support, with security, operations and legal exceptions.
Third-party model/tool rules still apply, required metadata remains and the setting may only work prospectively. Configure before sensitive work and inspect file/account permissions. We did not independently audit deletion.
8. Diagnose access before adding more money
Use the invite, create the personal account and check the bill and US$22, then follow client/API instructions. We inspected public and pre-account pages without paid inference or registration.
Our research hit HTTP 429 and browser background waits, not evidence every subscriber does. One public Hermes report describes paid tool entitlement/auth errors. Save service, time, error and billing state for official support instead of repeatedly topping up.
9. USD billing, cancellation and refunds
The invite says US$20 renewal and cancel anytime; terms say advance, non-refundable and before taxes. Check HKD exchange and card fees: US$5 is not HK$5 or a lasting price.
Find the date and cancellation control before payment. Keep confirmations, stop cloud separately and preserve data before downgrade/closure. Downgrade may lose functions/data; cancelling is not automatically refunding month one.
10. Try a task, not an idle subscription
Have useful Hermes/model work, inspect privacy and usage, and the US$5 month is a small test. Choose a suitable priced model and expand only after useful results.
Use Free to explore free models. Low use, a need for unlimited flat-price service or an ineligible card are reasons to skip payment. The same 10% uplift does not justify paying monthly for an idle agent.
FAQ
- US$15 paid or received?
- It is US$15 off the first bill: US$5 Plus with US$22 usage, then US$20 monthly.
- Can US$22 be withdrawn?
- It is service allowance, not cash, separate from the invoice discount.
- Existing plan or team eligible?
- The invite says new customers on new personal subscriptions; those other cases are unverified.
- Card already backed a referral?
- One referral per card; discount and reward may be removed. Check before paying.
- Unlimited tools and cloud?
- No. Each service bills to the shared, finite allowance with a rollover cap.
- Ultra has a better ratio?
- All have 10% uplift; Ultra increases allowance and rollover, not the ratio.
- Privacy Mode covers every model?
- It governs Nous with exceptions, not upstream policies or required metadata.
- Cancel after one month?
- Check the renewal date, cancel before the next invoice and keep confirmation; fees are described as non-refundable, with cloud/data handled separately.
