Is Grokified Worth It? 10 Things to Know Before You Drop $5 on Half-Price Grok for Coding

Grokified is a prepaid, OpenAI-compatible API built for coding tools. You load a US-dollar balance, point Cursor, Claude Code, Codex or your own program at https://api.grokified.com/v1 with a key starting gk_live_, and every request comes straight off the balance. No monthly bill; when the balance hits zero, requests bounce with a 402 error. The same balance also works in the web playground, the image and video tools and the Telegram bot.

The company behind it is DEEPORAX AI LTD, company number 17293947, registered in England and Wales with an address in Oldham, UK. The UK Companies House register shows it was only set up on 22 June 2026, so it's a few months old. It calls itself an independent gateway, not xAI and not Groq. The money you load is prepaid service credit, not a deposit, with no deposit protection at all; if the company folds, your balance goes with it.

The models all borrow xAI's names, from grok-4.3 up to grok-4.7, plus grok-build-0.1, and the Messages API page says it's Grok underneath. The terms are a lot more careful: the model names are just compatibility labels, Grokified isn't affiliated with, endorsed by or a reseller of any model vendor, and the models come from third parties it doesn't name. Its rate-limit page also spells out that every request runs through one shared upstream account.

Put simply: you can't confirm which model is actually answering each request, and the whole thing rests on an upstream deal it doesn't disclose; if that deal ends, so does the service. Playing with a cheap coding model on your own projects is fine, but don't bet a product your customers rely on.

There are eight text models. grok-4.3 and the three grok-4.20 versions cost US$0.63 per million input tokens and US$1.25 per million output; grok-4.5, grok-4.6 and the flagship grok-4.7 cost US$1.00 and US$3.00; the coding model grok-build-0.1 costs US$0.50 and US$1.00. Images are US$0.01 each, video US$0.025 a second. Check them one by one and every price is exactly half of what xAI itself lists for the same names (prompts under 200,000 tokens), so the half price is the real deal.

The 50% covers every token type, cached input and reasoning tokens included, on every request for as long as you have the account: no seats, no code, no savings cap. Prompt caching switches on by itself, and cached input is another 75% to 85% cheaper than fresh input. A prepaid account gets every model except grok-4.7, which needs Basic. Heads-up: the terms let Grokified pull the discount for new sign-ups, while existing accounts keep it.

Sign up through our link and the account gets US$5 of signup credit, but it only unlocks when you first pay; make that first payment US$4.99 or more and you get another US$5, once per account. So a US$5 top-up gives you a US$15 balance, all burned at half price. It's Grokified usage in US dollars, not cash, and bonus credit is never refunded; if that first payment gets refunded later, the US$5 bonus is taken back. Sign up from the same IP, email or card as the referrer and the system rejects you and you get nothing.

The link drops a 60-day, first-click cookie, so open the link first, then sign up in the same browser, and don't type any other invite code on the sign-in screen, because a code you type overrides the link. Take a very typical coding-agent request: 50,000 tokens of context in and 10,000 tokens out on grok-4.6. At xAI's list price that's US$0.16 (about HK$1.25); on Grokified it's US$0.08 (about HK$0.63). The US$15 balance from your first US$5 covers about 187 of those; at list price you'd get only around 93. At the European Central Bank's reference rates for 23 October 2026, US$5 is about HK$39 and US$15 about HK$118, before your card's foreign-currency fee.

Real agent work swings a lot: tools like Claude Code resend piles of context at every step, while caching claws back the repeated part. Every response shows the list price, what was charged and what's left, so after a day of use the dashboard tells you what each job really costs. Trust that number before you top up again, not our guess.

Plans are monthly subscriptions that load credit each cycle. Basic is US$4.99 a month (about HK$39) for US$7.49 of credit, worth US$14.98 at list price; Pro is US$9.99 (about HK$78) for US$19.99 (worth US$39.98); Max is US$49.99 (about HK$392) for US$120 (worth US$240). Basic also unlocks grok-4.7, quality images, Video 1.5 and voice; Pro throws in realtime voice and remote MCP servers; Max adds priority. Every plan's first payment gets the extra US$5 too.

Plans auto-renew until you cancel on the Billing page, and the rest of a cycle is neither refunded nor prorated. It doesn't say whether unused plan credit rolls over, so pick a plan that fits what you really use. The site also hypes half-price plans for the first two months but publishes no terms, so do your sums at full price. Using less than about US$5 a month? Top-ups are plenty. Want grok-4.7? Basic is the cheapest way in.

Any tool that lets you set a custom OpenAI base URL just needs https://api.grokified.com/v1 and your gk_live_ key. Grokified also opens an Anthropic-format Messages API at /v1/messages, the kind Claude Code and the anthropic SDK use; point the SDK at https://api.grokified.com and it fills in the path itself.

The lazy way is the CLI: npm install -g grokified, then grokified login and grokified setup. It writes the base URL into each tool's own config, such as ~/.claude/settings.json for Claude Code and ~/.codex/config.toml for Codex, and opencode, Crush, Goose, Qwen Code, Aider and Zed are covered too. Claude Code runs through a local relay on 127.0.0.1:4111 that holds your key. There's no undo command, so jot down your current settings before you run it.

The terms don't restrict regions and xAI doesn't publish a supported-regions list, so in Hong Kong you just pay by card and go. But the pricing page says it charges in US dollars while the billing docs say pounds; the checkout page has the final word. Either way it's a foreign-currency transaction, so your Hong Kong card may tack on a fee. Grokified isn't registered for UK VAT, so no tax is added, and your statement shows GROKIFIED AI.

Unused prepaid balance can be refunded within 30 days of the top-up, back to your original card, landing 5 to 10 business days after approval; email [email protected] from your account address with the transaction reference. Anything used, any bonus credit, and anything burned through a leaked key won't come back, and neither will the rest of a cancelled plan's cycle. The 14-day cancellation right in the terms is for UK consumers, and with English law and courts in charge, chasing a dispute from Hong Kong is a slog, so small top-ups are the safe move.

Grokified keeps your requests and responses for 30 days for your history, support and looking into abuse or billing disputes, then deletes them automatically; generated images and video stick around for 24 hours. It says it never uses your prompts or outputs to train any model and never sells them. Upstream model providers do receive your requests, but the privacy policy doesn't name them, and some processors sit outside the UK and EEA, with transfers covered by the UK IDTA or EU standard contractual clauses.

The website only uses first-party cookies, and inside dev tools there are none at all. Keep client code, passwords and personal data out of it; for open-source or just-for-fun projects, a 30-day retention window is a fair trade.

Grokified has no app, so there's no app-store rating to check, and as of 24 October 2026 the Trustpilot page it claimed in September 2026 still had zero reviews. For something this new, its own error docs are the most honest picture.

Unpaid accounts max out at 32,000 input tokens per request (go over and it's a 413), which a coding agent blows through fast, and they share one daily budget that pauses every free account once it runs dry. Paying lifts both limits for good, but whenever the shared upstream account goes over its rate you still eat a 429, and it tells you to retry with backoff because the error won't always say how long to wait. Expect the odd agent hiccup, and keep a second provider on standby when there's a deadline.
