Does FastAIToken work in Hong Kong? 10 things to know before you try one key for GPT and Claude

Put simply, FastAIToken is a third-party AI API gateway: you use one key and one OpenAI-compatible address, and it forwards your requests to GPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, DeepSeek, Qwen, GLM and other models, counts the tokens and takes the cost from a prepaid balance. The homepage says it has 40-plus models, and the docs add image and Seedance video models.

The very first line of its terms makes it clear: it is not an official product of OpenAI, Anthropic or any model maker, and it has no authorisation from or partnership with them. The site only names the operator as International Ciyuan Inc., with no registered address and no company number; support lives in QQ groups, WeChat and [email protected], and it's basically all in Chinese.

Its Supported Regions policy says you only get a model if its maker supports your location, using OpenAI's and Anthropic's official lists as the yardstick. We checked on 24 October 2026: OpenAI, Anthropic and the Google Gemini API all leave Hong Kong off their lists, so by its own rules, Hongkongers can't use GPT, Claude or Gemini through FastAIToken.

VPN, proxy, fake address? The policy bans each one by name, and a breach can get your account frozen with no refund. The funny part: its troubleshooting page tells you to "use a HK or US VPN" when Cloudflare blocks your IP, but being able to connect isn't the same as being allowed, so don't get carried away. What Hongkongers can use with a clear conscience are mainly the Chinese models the policy doesn't name, like DeepSeek, Qwen and GLM.

Only emails on its list get in: Gmail, Outlook, QQ, vip.qq.com, 163 and a few company domains. Yahoo, iCloud, Hotmail and local internet provider addresses are all turned away. You also pass a Cloudflare check, verify the email and tick the terms in a pop-up.

Heads up: password reset is switched off and there's no two-factor login, so forgetting your password is a real headache. Keep it in a password manager.

Once you've signed up, message support for trial credit. The amount isn't published, and support decides it. Its own refund policy says the trial is there so you can test a model's speed, quality and billing before paying, so use it exactly for that.

In the OpenAI SDK, change the Base URL to https://www.fastaitoken.com/v1 and use your FastAIToken key as the Bearer token, then just change the model name to switch models; if a tool wants an address without /v1, enter https://www.fastaitoken.com. The docs have guides for Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Cline, Cherry Studio, Dify, Open WebUI, LangChain and more, plus a separate guide for Chinese models.

Not everything is ready, though. The API manual only lists chat completions and the model list as working endpoints, and still marks embeddings, streaming, images, video and multimodal as "in development", even though there are separate image and Seedance video guides. The terms also say compatible only means the request format, so error codes, token counts and tool calls can differ from the official APIs. Whatever endpoint you need, test it on the trial credit first.

Text is charged per token; images, video and what it calls "special reverse-engineered models" are charged per call, and you can force a key to per-token only in its settings. The full price list is behind the login; the public line is that overseas models stick close to the official price, Chinese models like DeepSeek, Qwen, Doubao, Kimi and GLM are usually cheaper than official, and niche new models can cost more.

What you actually pay depends on the group. The docs push a low-multiplier "welfare group" for OpenAI (five concurrent requests max) and a "Kiro group" for Claude that cuts the cost of the "Claude Max pool". The names tell you that capacity comes from subscription plans and third-party tools, not pay-as-you-go official APIs, which doesn't square with its own "pure official relay" line; for Hongkongers, though, both groups are outside what the region policy allows anyway. The homepage also splits plans by throughput: Developer at 5 concurrent and 40 a minute, Professional at 20 and 200, Enterprise by negotiation, with prices only in the console.

Paid but unused balance can be refunded, no reason needed, within 30 days of the top-up landing, as long as that payment hasn't been invoiced. The maths: paid − used − bonus − channel fee. Alipay and WeChat Pay are fee-free, company bank transfers 1%, PayPal, Wise and cards 1% to 3%, and USDT pays the network fee. Its own example: pay RMB 500, get RMB 50 free, use RMB 120, and you get RMB 330 back, about HK$388, with the RMB 50 bonus clawed back in full. Money only goes back the way it came.

Apply with a console ticket or by emailing [email protected] with the subject 退款申請. They confirm the amount in 1 to 2 working days; then it's 1 to 3 working days to Alipay or WeChat, and 3 to 7 to a card or PayPal. Got hit by a 5xx, timeout, empty response or double charge? Report it within 15 days with the request ID and it goes back to your balance within 3 working days. Whatever you do, don't rage-file a chargeback with your bank: during the dispute they suspend your account and freeze the balance.

The balance is prepaid service credit, not a deposit: no interest, no passing it to someone else, and you can only spend it on FastAIToken. It lasts 365 days from your last top-up, and topping up again resets the whole balance to 365 days; you get a nudge 30 days and 7 days before it expires.

If a model is pulled for good because of the upstream provider, your business depends on it completely and there's no replacement, you can ask for the unused balance back within 30 days of it going. Beyond that, the terms cap what they owe you at whatever you paid in the 30 days before the dispute.

The docs call it a "transparent proxy" that keeps no conversation content and as few logs as possible. The terms go much wider: they can keep request metadata, the model, usage, error messages, your IP, account identifiers and some request logs, and content or metadata may be passed on to upstream model providers, cloud companies and infrastructure suppliers.

The terms also tell you not to upload personal data you're not entitled to handle, trade secrets, source code, keys or customer data. Customer and staff data is protected by Hong Kong's Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance, and anything under an NDA stays out too; it's better for prototypes, public data and your own side projects.

There's no app-store rating and no big pile of user reviews to go on. Its own troubleshooting page lists the usual suspects: Cloudflare 403 blocks, a slow website, 524 timeouts on Claude (the fix is to switch to another domain), 429 errors when a key's quota runs dry, and the five-request ceiling on the welfare group.

The homepage is also selling failover from GPT to Claude or Gemini, while the docs say "no routing, no model swapping". The two don't match, so check the model field in every response. The terms don't promise it won't go down either: upstream bans, rate limits and price rises can all knock it out without warning.

Go for it if you already build small projects on Chinese models like DeepSeek, Qwen or GLM, want one key to manage them all, and don't mind Chinese-language support. Start with the trial credit, top up small, and put a cap on every key.

Skip it if you're here to use GPT, Claude or Gemini in Hong Kong, because its policy rules that out and a VPN puts your balance at risk of being frozen. Skip it too if you handle customer data, run production systems, or want English support and a company you can actually hold to account.
