What's new for Double 11 this year?
According to HKEJ on 22 September, Taobao's overseas Double 11 launches in 20 markets at the same time, with more than 1.2 million merchants taking part and free shipping in 13 countries and regions. Hong Kong, Macau, Singapore and Malaysia get free shipping with no minimum spend. Cross-border items also expand from small, light goods to medium and large ones such as furniture and home building materials, and the report says more than 90% of those larger items can ship directly overseas.
On dates, Taobao published its 2026 Taobao Double 11 merchant rules on its official marketing rules centre: warm-up from 17 October 00:00 to 20 October 19:59, and the sale from 20 October 20:00 to 13 November 23:59. Those are rules for merchants; if the Hong Kong site sets its own sale times or extra deals, the Taobao app will announce them and we'll update this guide.
To use the no-minimum free shipping, Taobao's Hong Kong free-shipping plan says: set your default delivery address in the Taobao app to Hong Kong, add items tagged 0門檻包郵到港 (from one shop or several), choose Official Direct (官方直運) or Official Consolidation (官方集運) at checkout, and pick self-pickup (自提). With home delivery, or on items without the tag, don't assume shipping is free.
New-user sign-up and invite code, step by step
- Download the Taobao app and open a new account with your own mobile number.
- Set your default delivery address in the app to Hong Kong so the Hong Kong free-shipping plan applies.
- Find Redeem invite code (輸入邀請碼) in the app, enter , then claim the welcome voucher from the app homepage.
- Check the voucher's amount, minimum spend and expiry straight away. The app is what counts.
- Vouchers expire; if yours runs out before the Double 11 sale, don't buy things you don't need just to use it.

ShopBack cashback: it tracks Taobao, but does it stack with the new-user voucher?
When we checked on 30 September, ShopBack Hong Kong's Taobao (Web) store page showed "10% cashback", but the same page says the rate varies by item and Taobao merchant: everything bought through 愛淘寶 (Ai Taobao) qualifies, while other merchants only qualify on selected items. Tracking takes about 2 days and confirmation 120 days.
The key rule: ShopBack's terms say orders that use red packets or promo codes not issued by ShopBack get no cashback, and amounts paid with Taobao points, merchant coupons or limited-time discounts don't count either. In other words, don't expect ShopBack cashback on the order where you use the Taobao welcome voucher.
If you want both: use the welcome voucher on one order, and place later orders without vouchers through ShopBack. Start from ShopBack every time, empty your cart and close the Taobao app first, and place the order in Hong Kong or Macau.

Common pitfalls
- Who counts as a new user: Taobao's official invite page doesn't define it in detail. If you've used Taobao before, or registered with the same mobile number, don't count on the welcome voucher. Buy&Ship, JD and ecHome offers are also for new members or first orders only.
- Only one referrer: each new Buy&Ship member can have one referrer only, and the referrer number must show on the registration page, or neither of you gets credits.
- Enter codes at sign-up: Buy&Ship needs the referrer number on the registration page; on Taobao, enter the code under Redeem invite code right after opening the account. Don't leave it for a few days.
- RMB thresholds: many Taobao and JD coupon thresholds are in RMB, so check the coupon applies before you pay.
- Storage fees: Taobao's older transit page says 20 days free; Buy&Ship's sorting centre is free for 30 days, then HK$10 a day for up to 15 days, and parcels are treated as abandoned after 46 days. Double 11 means lots of parcels, so combine and ship early.
- Size limits and prohibited goods: for bulky items like furniture and building materials, check the forwarder's size limits and prohibited-items list. Oversized parcels may cost extra, be returned or be charged by volume.
- Cashback isn't instant: ShopBack cashback takes 120 days to confirm and is cancelled if you return the item.
